This study describes the development of a 24 item Likert scale of attitude towards local ecumenism among 496 secretaries of Local Councils of Churches in England. Variations in scale scores owe more to the geographical location of the councils than to the personal characteristics of the secretaries. Recommendations are made for replication to monitor changes in the climate of local ecumenism.
