The relationships among emotional exhaustion, emotional intelligence, and occupational identity of social workers in China

In this study the relationships among emotional exhaustion (EE), emotional intelligence (EI), and the occupational identity (OI) of social workers in China were investigated. Three questionnaires were used to survey a sample of 88 male and 158 female social workers. The results revealed that the correlations between EE and EI and between EE and OI were both significantly negative, and that between EI and OI was significantly positive. EE scores for females were significantly higher than those for males, but there were no significant gender differences for EI and OI; level of education played a mixed role in EE, EI, and OI scores.
