Professional identity, self-control, and invisible absenteeism among Chinese art college students

I investigated the impact of professional identity on invisible absenteeism among 479 art students at Chinese universities and assessed the mediating role of self-control in this relationship. The results indicated that professional identity negatively predicts invisible absenteeism. Additionally, self-control played a mediating role in the relationship between professional identity and invisible absenteeism. My study contributes to the understanding of the relationships between professional identity, invisible absenteeism, and self-control among art students in the context of higher education in China. These findings also provide practical insights for educators to prevent invisible absenteeism among art students. Directions for future research are proposed.
