Featured Topic: Creativity
A number of our authors have been getting creative this year—that is, focusing on the field of creativity. Derived from the Latin term “creÅ” (to create or to make), this concept spans many varied areas, including arts, business management, and education. What holds true across all of these is that “we seem to have reached a general agreement that creativity involves the production of novel, useful products” (Mumford, 2003, p. 110).†
Creativity is closely related to social psychology, too, with many of the members of our Board of Consulting Editors, including Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Adrian Furnham, Edward de Bono, and Jin Nam Choi, having published papers on this topic. The latter’s most recent contribution to this field is now available on our website.
The pervasiveness of creativity throughout so many areas of our lives made it an easy decision to select this as our first featured topic.
